With DiGiCo’s compact 2U Orange Box, you can use DiGiCo Multichannel Interface (DMI) cards to create audio paths over whatever interface you desire. The Orange Box has 2 PSUs for redundancy, and 2 slots to accommodate any of our DMI cards that allow you to convert pretty much any format to another.

How? We have Slot A and Slot B, and let’s say you have MADI on your product, but you want to go to Dante. No problem, just buy a DMI with MADI, and a DMI with Dante, connect them up via the two slots, and away you go.

It’s the same with Hydra 2, Optocore, Aviom, AES, Analogue, and so on. This cool little ‘anything in, anything out’ box essentially gives you a choice of Multichannel user interfaces that enable you to send audio wherever you want, in whatever format you choose.

DMI-ME

This card offers a 40 output interface to Allen & Heath ME-1 or ME-500 Personal Mixers. Multiple personal Mixers can be connected to the DMI ME via the ME-U Hub.

At smaller scale gigs where it is not possible to have a monitoring engineer, personal mixers are becoming more popular, allowing musicians to take control of their own monitor mix. The DMI-ME acts as a 40-output interface to Allen & Heath ME-1 and ME-500 Personal Mixers. With built in sample rate conversion, it works seamlessly at 48kHz and 96kHz. Multiple personal mixers can be connected to the DMI ME via the ME-U Hub or by cascading ME mixers.

DMI-MADI-B

This card can be used to connect a Standard MADI stream (64 channels in and out) at 48KHz or 96KHz or an SD Series DiGiCo Rack with the appropriate connector (D2-Rack, SD-Rack, SD-MINIRack)

MADI (Multichannel Audio Digital Interface) is arguably one of the most popular protocols for transmitting high channel counts in professional audio. This is partially due to its ease of use, and the ability for cables to be run long lengths with minimal signal loss. Originally only capable of transmitting 56 channels, MADI is now capable of transmitting up to 64 channels.

DiGiCo offers two MADI DMI cards, each with different connector types. Both the MADI-B (BNC) and the MADI-C (RJ45) cards can be used to connect up to 64 channels of audio in and out at both 48kHz and 96kHz. At 96kHz, the B connection must be connected to provide the full channel count.

When making use of the SD/4REA4 integration, the DMI-MADI-B allows an SD console to control I/O that is connected to the 4REA4.
